Formation of the Scottish Justices Association
The Scottish Justices Association was set up in 2007 as a body to represent JPs in the light of the replacement of the former District Courts, run by local authorities, by JP Courts, in a unified court system with Sheriff Courts, and related changes. Its membership includes over 90% of all JPs in Scotland.
The initiative to set it up came from the former District Courts Association, which integrated the activities of the District Courts.
