The first Justice of the Peace courts replaced District Courts in the Sheriffdom of Lothian and Borders in March 2008. Grampian Highlands and Islands courts became Justice of the Peace courts on 2 June 2008. The Scottish Courts Service web site gives more information about this.

The Constitution of the Association was approved by members meeting in a Special General Meeting on 10th June 2008. A copy can be downloaded from the Resources section. Standing Orders and Rules for the Association were also approved.
